Article Marketing and Social Media Marketing – How to Use These Together to Reach a Target Audience

Article marketing and social media have worked well together since 2008. You can start telling people about what you are writing, finish writing your article, and then discuss the content of what you have written once it is published. I have tweeted three hundred word articles, sentence by sentence, but there is more to it than that. When you are combining article marketing and social media marketing, think about the topics you will cover, the target audience you are trying to reach, and the purpose of what you are doing in terms of how it will build your online business.

I ask the people on my list, in my blog posts, on Twitter, on Facebook, and on LinkedIn which topics they are interested in knowing more about. This is how I come up with the articles that are making me so much money. Ask the people you are connected with online what type of information they want from you, and then provide it for them.

If you are not an expert in the area they are asking about, spend some time doing research and you will become more and more of an expert as time goes on. I honestly believe that we can become experts in almost any area having to do with the Internet is two months or less. I have done this myself since coming online at the end of 2005. Writing lots of articles will help you to do this faster than ever. Reach out to your target audience. They are already online, so find them and invite them over to your sites to join your list.

This is best done with an optin page, but you may want to start with a blog, as long as there is an optin box there for them to use to sign up. Once you start the conversation about your niche topic by writing articles on everything you know, you may be surprised at how many people find you on the social media sites. Remember that it’s all about keywords, so use the words your market understands in order to reach them. Once you begin finding your target audience, decide how you will monetize what you are doing.

This should really be your focus from the very beginning, but there is no time like the present to figure out what you will sell. Remember that someone must purchase something, either directly from you or through your affiliate link, in order for you to make money. Keep that in mind as you begin to create your own products and recommend those of affiliates.

Article marketing gives you content that can be easily repurposed into products that will sell. Write your articles and share them on social media sites. It will not take long for you to build a profitable business, as well as have enough content to create whatever type of products or membership sites you want to set up.

Article Marketing vs. Social Media

It may seem as though article marketing takes a lot of time when compared to social media or social bookmarking sites. But the truth is that if you are a writer, and you can pump out several articles per hour, then article marketing to get free traffic does not have to take longer than social media, and the results can be just as great.

Social Media

Social media basically gives you back what you put in. This means that if you use social media sites just to throw up your links and hope for the best, then you will not get much traffic from that site.

With social media, you need to have a lot of friends to help your content stay on top, otherwise it gets buried and no one will ever see it again. Therefore you need to take the time to build relationships with other users by reading and rating their content so that they will do the same for you. Depending on how much time you have to hang around social media sites, this could take you a while.

However, once you have your connections, then social media will be a blessing to you, as an hour spent on social media sites will generate immediate traffic. But, it may not pay off as well in the long run, as your links may get buried.

Article Marketing

But with article marketing, you write the articles and them submit them to article directories and your work is done. Once and for all.

There is no need to spend any time rating or commenting on other people’s articles in order to get views, as the article directories will usually feature your article on the front page of the directory. On top of that they will also market your articles so that they will continue to climb in the search engines and thus generate traffic for you on a long term basis.

So basically for every hour that you spend using social media you can write and submit at least 2 articles which will give you at least 4 or more back links, depending on how many directories you submit your article to.

However, don’t get me wrong, social media sites are great, and you should take advantage of them, but article marketing is just as successful in the long run, and doesn’t take anymore work, provided you are efficient when it comes to writing and typing. The key is to take advantage of both for a maximum amount of free traffic.
